Communication, Education, and Outreach Committee

The Communication, Education, and Outreach (CEO) Committee facilitates regional coordination of information dissemination.

Objectives

  1. Serve as a regional resource or clearinghouse to coordinate information sharing among all the states, provinces, organizations, and institutions represented on the NEANS panel, as well as other stakeholders.
  2. Promote the awareness of the NEANS panel to increase recognition of, and support for its mission and priorities.
  3. Increase aquatic nuisance species awareness among all sectors of the public, emphasizing the need for and importance of prevention activities.

Current Projects

  • Revise the NEANS panel fact sheet into a tri-fold and edit information for printing and for displaying on NEANS panel website.
  • Review and edit new version of NEANS panel website.
  • Develop a web page on NEANS panel site specifically for Hydrilla, including general information about the species, as well as prevention, control, and BMPs.
  • Develop a webpage on the NEANS panel site that summarizes the problem of ANS in the Northeast, highlighting some of the more problematic freshwater and saltwater species.
  • Work with other NEANS panel committees to aid them in packaging and conveying their projects for dissemination to the public.
